More Than a Puppy — A Partnership
A select few of our top puppies and young adults are offered through our Co-Ownership Program.
These special dogs live full lives as cherished family members while contributing to the future of the Team Reeves Ranch breeding program.
For the right family, co-ownership is an opportunity to receive an exceptional Border Collie, become part of the Team Reeves Ranch family, and help preserve bloodlines that will impact future generations.
Team Reeves Ranch Co-Ownership Program
At Team Reeves Ranch, we believe every dog deserves to be a beloved family member while also contributing to the future of our carefully developed breeding program.
Our Co-Ownership Program offers select families the opportunity to welcome one of our top-quality Border Collies into their home at a reduced cost while partnering with us to preserve exceptional bloodlines, health, temperament, intelligence, and structure for future generations.
Unlike traditional breeding programs where dogs may spend much of their lives in kennel environments, our co-owned dogs live as family members. They sleep in homes, go on adventures, play with children, and enjoy the life every dog deserves. We believe this creates happier, healthier, and more well-rounded dogs while helping us maintain the temperament and quality that Team Reeves Ranch is known for.
Co-ownership is only offered on a small number of carefully selected puppies and young adults. Not every puppy qualifies for this program. These dogs represent bloodlines and qualities we feel are important to preserve for future generations.
This is not simply purchasing a puppy. It is a long-term partnership built on trust, communication, and a shared commitment to responsible breeding.
Female Co-Ownership
Female co-owners receive an exceptional Team Reeves Ranch Border Collie at a reduced cost.
Females are not bred until they are fully mature and have completed all required health clearances, including OFA certifications and genetic testing.
Once the female enters our breeding program, Team Reeves Ranch manages all breeding-related decisions and expenses.
Female co-owners may choose one of the following compensation options:
• $500 for each successful litter produced by the dog
OR
• One puppy from one of the dog's litters
Team Reeves Ranch covers breeding-related expenses, including health testing, breeding expenses, pregnancy-related care, whelping expenses, and show expenses if the dog is shown.
The female will periodically return to Team Reeves Ranch for breeding and whelping. Typical stays are approximately two weeks for breeding and approximately seven weeks for whelping and puppy raising.
Upon completion of the breeding program, full ownership and AKC registration rights are transferred to the co-owner.
Male Co-Ownership
Male co-owners receive an exceptional Team Reeves Ranch Border Collie at a reduced cost.
Males live full-time with their families and are only brought back to Team Reeves Ranch when needed for breeding, health testing, showing, or other approved program activities.
Male co-owners may choose one of the following compensation options:
• $500 for each successful litter produced by the dog
OR
• One puppy from one litter produced by the dog
Team Reeves Ranch covers approved breeding-related expenses, health testing, and show expenses if the dog is shown.
If selected for showing, a male may periodically travel for training and competition opportunities as determined by Team Reeves Ranch.
Upon completion of the breeding program, full ownership and AKC registration rights are transferred to the co-owner.
What We Ask of Our Co-Owners
We are looking for families who:
• View their dog as a true family member.
• Provide excellent care, nutrition, training, exercise, and veterinary care.
• Maintain regular communication with Team Reeves Ranch.
• Provide photos, videos, and updates at least twice per year.
• Understand the importance of preserving exceptional bloodlines and participating in a structured, ethical breeding program.
• Are willing and able to transport the dog to a mutually agreed-upon meeting location for breeding-related appointments, health testing, showing, breeding, whelping, and other program requirements within two hours location from Team Reeves Ranch.
• Value partnership, communication, and responsible breeding practices.
Location Requirements
Because our co-owned dogs periodically return to Team Reeves Ranch for health testing, breeding, whelping, showing, and other program-related activities, applicants must live within a reasonable travel distance and be willing to participate in the transportation requirements of the program.
We currently accept qualified co-ownership homes throughout California, Oregon, and Nevada. Applicants from other locations may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The most important factor is not where you live, but your willingness and ability to maintain open communication and reliably transport the dog when needed throughout the duration of the partnership.
Why We Believe in Co-Ownership
Our co-owned dogs are living proof that breeding dogs do not need to live in kennels to contribute to a world-class breeding program.
This system allows our dogs to enjoy full family lives while helping us continue producing healthy, intelligent, beautiful Border Collies for generations to come.
For the right families, co-ownership is an opportunity to become part of something much larger than simply owning a dog. It is a chance to help preserve and improve the breed we all love while sharing your life with one of Team Reeves Ranch's most exceptional dogs.
We consider our co-owners an important part of the Team Reeves Ranch family and are grateful for the role they play in helping us continue our mission of producing extraordinary Border Collies for future generations.
